Embrace The Climb

When Life presents a staircase ... start climbing

During our journey through Life, this hurdle is guaranteed to appear on every one of our many paths. Not once. Not twice. But numerous times. Again and again. Until we have climbed those endless staircases. Those leading to our next level.

Before commencing the climb, we need to pause. We need to create a space wherein we stop being involved in insignificant and potentially harmful activities, routines and thought patterns, which only serve to keep us in an abundant supply of stress and unhappiness. Loneliness, lack of self-respect and self-confidence, fear and a sense of not-being-good-enough could well be forming the foundations of the next staircase.

The stairs are necessary. We need to accept them as part of our journey. We could choose to move around them on the ground level. Take another route. Live life with blinkers on. Never knowing what could have been. We could turn around and go back the way we came. Retrace our steps through the old familiar territory. Repeat old patterns and make the same mistakes. Remain in our comfort zones.

The staircases represent life's challenges. They are necessary gifts to us. Gifts of great value which provide incredible opportunities. We are given the choice and the freedom to tackle each challenge – stair by stair – eventually reaching the top of the staircase. Reaching our full potential. Being the best versions of ourselves.

Fear of the unknown can indeed be a most damaging obstacle in moving forward.  We are never aware of what our individual staircases may hold. Although one could almost guarantee that there will be a certain amount of adversity, including serious hardships, unfortunate setbacks, events that could change your life and of course, the numerous curveballs that bounce around.

Find the courage to begin. Dig deep into your resources. Those of determination, resilience, patience, faith and understanding. Ascend your staircase with elegance, dignity and an open mind.

Once you have reached the highest point, pause and turn around to see from where you have come. The great heights you have climbed. Acknowledge the immense depth of emotional, spiritual and mental growth you have attained. Stand in your own true, beautiful light.

  1. WOW Ingrid . . . this missive has struck a deep chord in my soul. Each sentence, the combination of words, resonates deeply and so truthfully. I have a friend navigating the loss of her second son a few months ago, while still dealing with losing her eldest son 4 years ago. I feel that this passage would provide much comfort to her albeit maybe too soon to receive them. I will hold onto this. May I pass it onto her if and when she is ready? THANK YOU for sharing your blog. Hope all is well in SR and hope to cross paths again when we are back in February. :), Magali
