A Day Spent With Flowers

There are times in life when we arrive at the miserable point of being ‘peopled-out’. This seems to be happening more and more often. The phase passes quickly enough though. Thankfully there are many antidotes for this condition. I discovered one which is quite affordable, is beneficial to body, mind and soul and can be found almost everywhere.

They stood in silence. Peaceful and composed. A quiet self-confidence radiated from each magnificent head. There seemed to be no need for communication. Or so I, as a human, thought. Perhaps they communicated on higher frequencies. Those we are not able to reach, let alone understand. Each flower, patient and respectful enough to listen to what others were saying. Holding the space for those who needed to share. They seemed to possess an awareness that other voices needed to be heard too, in order to nurture and maintain relationships.

With eternal patience, the beautiful creations provided support and space for one another to develop and grow with dignity. Staring out across the expansive fields of colour, no evidence of jealousy existed.  For the flowers are not threatened by the successes and powerful energies of others. They bear an inner strength. A silent knowing that they have their place in the mass myriad of hues. They are comfortable and confident in their individual beauty. And in their abilities.

Gentle waves of colour caressed the hot soil of the earth. Tinges and tones of reds, yellows, purples and saffron mingled with the darker shades of brown produced by Mother Earth’s belly. Dancing at times, to the odd breath of air bringing respite from the sun-soaked sands. Whilst reaching upwards to offer their profound beauty, they tipped their glorious heads with poise. Following the miraculous power of the sun. The flowers of the harsh, dry coastal area embraced the flow of life. Transforming with ease to the changing seasons and temperatures.

The flowers do not manifest hang-ups or issues that we humans so often place upon the shoulders of others. Creating heavy burdens to be carried along life’s journey. Unnecessarily so. Neither do they breed contempt. For they convey an acceptance of their harsh environment. Clearly creating their best possible selves, whilst remaining exquisite symbols of the wonder of nature’s palette.

The fields of colour project a natural feeling of life energy. Of wholesome goodness. Each flower represents the simplicity of Life. They have the air, the warmth of the sun, the nutrition of the soil and water. Reminding us that the basic necessities of life are constantly provided. We need only to recognise them. Appreciate them. Perhaps then, we humans could stand in our own splendour. Prioritising kindness, tolerance and a deeper awareness of the needs of others. Supporting one another in simple togetherness.

The sun dipped below the horizon. Another day had passed. Petals closed gently. Their beauty hidden. A time for stillness. For reflection. Heads bent in peaceful bliss.
